D₂O and Benzene-d₆ Recovery Programs

CIL is dedicated to helping our customers improve efficiencies and maximize resources, and our D₂O and Benzene-d₆ Recovery Programs are designed to do just that. CIL has the unique ability to re-enrich D₂O (deuterium oxide), which allows us to recycle used or unused D₂O and CIL has the unique ability to re-enrich benzene-d₆, which allows us to recycle and re-enrich your used benzene-d₆.

D₂O Recovery Program

Return your D₂O and avoid disposal fees. You will also receive a credit* to be used toward a future purchase.

*Material that is packaged in multiple small containers must be consolidated prior to return shipment or a consolidation fee will be assessed* 

There is a 40% minimum enrichment requirement to take part in the D₂O Recovery Program (please contact us to discuss the review of lower enrichments). Be advised there is a 3 kg minimum; a 25 g sample (from each container) must be sent to CIL for testing prior to returning the entire batch. The return batch must include the contact’s name, organization, accounting contact person, and the purchase order or account number to be credited. Any returns more than 100 kg require written approval prior to shipment. Please do not return any material without prior approval from CIL. After receiving this form, CIL will contact you for additional discussion.

Benzene-d₆ Recovery Program

If you currently have benzene-d₆* you would like to return for a reduced price on future purchases and to avoid disposal costs.

*The isotopic enrichment (IE) level of returned benzened-d₆ is critical for successful recycling. We require approximately 85% IE for returned material (please contact us to discuss the lower enrichments). In addition, our catalyst is highly sensitive to certain contaminants, so the returned material must meet our impurity specifications. Be advised there is ~600 kg minimum. Smaller batch sizes can be processed, however, longer delivery times and potential lower yields require review and discussion on a case-by-case basis. A 2 kg sample from each container and/or process must be sent to CIL for testing prior to returning the entire batch. The 2 kg sample, along with the return batch once approved, must include the contact’s name and organization. Once our analysis is completed CIL will provide a formal quotation for recycled and re-enriched material back to the original specifications of virgin benzene-d₆. Please do not return any material without prior approval from CIL.
