Description
Sodium deuteroxide (D, 99.5%) 40% in D₂O is used in API manufacturing as a strong deuterated base and deuterium source. It helps synthesize deuterated active pharmaceutical ingredients and internal mass spectrometry standards. It replaces standard sodium hydroxide (NaOH) to safely incorporate deuterium. This avoids the risk of protium (¹H) contamination or “back-exchange”.
